Leading with sanity
Chaos isn’t leadership.
Leadership stems from long-vision, stability, knowledge and planning. Strong leadership is rooted in shared values, morality and fairness.
My training as a naval officer and as a public-school executive taught me patience and persistence. It molded me into a leader supporting those doing the work, and those building strong cultures.
As a psychologist, I see families and children in crisis, and constituents dealing with private challenges, often unable to access mental health professionals.
Leadership is not a tantrum, but a steady, predictable and sane approach to problem-solving.
If you are seeking sane, responsible and stable representation in Lansing please consider supporting me at the polls.
Your vote has never been more important. Should you be able and willing to contribute to this campaign for responsible leadership please get in touch. I’d love to have you on my team.
It’s time to vote Matt Maddock out and bring sanity back to Michigan legislation.
Why I’m Running
I didn’t plan to run for public office.
Like many, I've spent most of my life focused on serving my community, raising a family, and doing my job to the best of my ability. But over the last several years, I've watched our politics become increasingly divided, angry, and disconnected from the everyday concerns of the people it is supposed to serve.
I believe most people are not extremists. Most people simply want safe communities, good schools, affordable housing, honest government, and the opportunity to build a better future for their children and grandchildren. Yet too often, the loudest voices dominate the conversation while common sense gets left behind.
Service has always been a part of my life. My family has a long tradition of serving this country, with family members answering the call in nearly every American conflict. I continued that tradition through my own service in the United States Navy, where I learned the importance of responsibility, accountability, and putting mission above personal interest.
After my military service, I dedicated my career to helping people. As a psychologist and educational leader, I have worked closely with children, families, teachers, and communities. Every day, I see the challenges that Michigan families face. I see the stress caused by rising costs, concerns about public safety, struggles with mental health, and the uncertainty many parents feel about the future.
I have also spent much of my professional life managing budgets, overseeing public resources, and making difficult decisions that affect real people. Those experiences taught me that leadership is not about ideology or political theater. Leadership is about listening, solving problems, and being a responsible steward of the public trust.
I am running because I believe Michigan deserves leaders who bring people together rather than drive them apart. Leaders who value facts over conspiracy theories, solutions over slogans, and service over self-interest.
Our district deserves representation that reflects the values of the vast majority of its citizens: hard work, integrity, respect, and common sense. We need leaders who focus on lowering costs, strengthening schools, supporting public safety, protecting seniors, and creating opportunities for future generations.
I am not running to build a political career. I am running because I believe public service is a responsibility. At a time when division and dysfunction have become too common, I believe it is time to restore something that should never be controversial: sanity, stability, and responsible leadership.
I would be honored to earn your support.
My top priorities.
Healthcare and Mental health
This nation and State have some of the most brilliant scientists, doctors and medical staff in the world, yet we pale in comparison with other advanced nations in access to health care.
I am committed to supporting health care access to all constituencies and demographics, committed to supporting women’s unalienable rights to control their own bodies, and committed to improving timely mental health access to all individuals, especially those in crises.
I commit to supporting and protecting research and the sciences.
The Environment
Our globe - the home we share with the rest of the eco-system – is not expendable. It is vital we keep our land, waterways and air clean. I support sane legislation that protects our land, air and water and keeps control of the Great Lakes.
We owe that to our children, our grandchildren and our planet.
Education
Education is a clear investment in our community and in our State. Every child deserves a solid learning experience.
As the associate superintendent of schools, I led our district from decades of deficit spending to a now multi-million dollar reserve. I understand budgets. I understand how ‘for profit’ school businesses are grafting tax dollars to make corporations wealthier.
And I understand the discrepancies in funding between districts and how that affects our children’s educational access opportunities. I am supportive of fully funding public education, and I’ll do everything reasonable to bring equity in learning to all children.
District 51 deserves better than Matt Maddock’s chaos.
It’s time to vote the incumbent out and bring sanity back to legislation.
Matt Maddock is dangerous for democracy.
Matt Maddock filed a lawsuit to overturn President Biden’s electoral votes in Michigan.
He said the 2020 elections were fraudulent and erroneously suggested 35,000 ballots just showed up out of nowhere.
He was in Washington D.C. on January 6th.
In 2023, his wife was indicted for alleged conspiracy to overturn the 2020 elections.
In a party that endorses less government, Maddock wants control of every part of your life:
He’s against a woman’s choice to control her own health
He wants to ban local government control over ICE intrusions into cities and schools
He’s against Department of Health oversight on communicable diseases in schools and annual health care worker trainings for bias against others
He wants to prohibit wind turbine construction and operation, just like DTE wants
He wants to remove protected class designations for sexual orientation and allow conversion therapy, which scholarly research reveals is ineffective and potentially extremely harmful to patients
